UTASKING Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Utasking LLC collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information in connection with the Utasking marketplace and website.

1. Scope and Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Utasking LLC ("Utasking," "we," "us," or "our") handles personal information when you visit or use the Utasking website, create or use an account, interact with other users, submit content or forms, purchase a Professional Membership, or otherwise use Utasking services (collectively, the "Platform").

Utasking operates a local, in-person services marketplace that helps Clients discover and connect with independent Professionals. At launch, Utasking does not process payments between Clients and Professionals for the underlying services they arrange with one another. Clients and Professionals handle those service payments directly and off-platform. Utasking may separately process payments for Professional Membership access.

This Privacy Policy should be read together with the Utasking Terms of Service, Professional and Membership Terms, SMS Terms and Consent, Safety Policy, Cookie Policy, and any other privacy or legal notices that apply to a feature you use.

2. Information We Collect

The personal information we collect depends on how you use Utasking, whether you use the Platform as a Client or Professional, and which features you choose to use.

2.1 Account and Registration Information

When you create or maintain a Utasking account, we may collect information such as:

  • first and last name;
  • email address;
  • password credentials or securely stored authentication information;
  • account type or role, such as Client or Professional;
  • mobile phone number;
  • email and phone verification status;
  • account status and security information;
  • account preferences and settings. Utasking uses email verification and SMS one-time verification codes to help confirm access to the email address and mobile number associated with an account. Phone and email verification do not constitute government-issued identity verification, a background check, licensing verification, or verification of a user's qualifications or trustworthiness.

2.2 Profile Information

Users may provide information for their Utasking profiles. Depending on the account type and features used, this may include:

  • profile photograph;
  • name;
  • tagline or professional headline;
  • biography or profile description;
  • city, state, and country;
  • phone number where collected for account purposes;
  • skills;
  • languages spoken;
  • Professional type or area of work;
  • language-proficiency information;
  • education;
  • professional experience;
  • other information a user chooses to include in a profile.

Some profile information is intended to be displayed publicly or to other Utasking users as part of the marketplace. A phone number collected for verification is not intended to become public merely because it was provided for verification.

2.3 Professional Service and Portfolio Information

Professionals may provide information about the services they offer, including:

  • service titles and descriptions;
  • service categories, subcategories, skills, and tags;
  • service city, state, and country;
  • pricing and package information;
  • estimated delivery or service timing;
  • photographs, gallery images, portfolio images, videos, and video links;
  • portfolio titles and descriptions;
  • frequently asked questions and answers;
  • other information Professionals choose to publish about their services. Professional profiles, portfolios, service listings, prices, photographs, reviews, and similar marketplace information may be publicly visible.

2.4 Client Requests and Marketplace Activity

Clients may provide information when creating service requests, projects, or similar marketplace postings, including:

  • request or project title;
  • description of the requested service;
  • category and skills requested;
  • city, state, or other service-area information;
  • proposed budget or price range;
  • anticipated duration;
  • preferred experience or expertise level;
  • language preferences;
  • number of Professionals requested;
  • photographs, files, attachments, or other materials voluntarily uploaded in connection with the request. We may also collect information relating to marketplace activity, such as requests created, proposals or responses submitted, account interactions, service-listing activity, and related status information.

2.5 Messages, Reviews, Reports, and Other User Content

When you interact with other users or with Utasking, we may collect and process:

  • messages and communications sent through the Platform;
  • proposals or responses to service requests;
  • ratings and reviews;
  • safety reports, complaints, or reports about another user;
  • information submitted through contact or support forms;
  • files, images, screenshots, or other materials voluntarily submitted with a report or communication. Where reviews are enabled, Client reviews and ratings concerning Professionals may be displayed publicly on Professional profiles. Some communications, reports, or related content may be reviewed when reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, policy enforcement, support, or legal compliance.

2.6 Professional Membership, Billing, and Payment Information

When a Professional purchases or renews a Professional Membership, we may collect or process information such as:

  • billing name;
  • company name, if provided;
  • billing address;
  • city, state, country, and postal code;
  • billing email address and phone number;
  • membership purchased;
  • transaction amount;
  • transaction date;
  • payment status;
  • invoice and transaction records;
  • payment method type or limited payment details provided to us by the payment processor. Payment-card information is processed by our payment providers. Utasking does not need to store complete payment-card numbers in order to provide Professional Membership checkout. Client access to Utasking is currently free, and Utasking does not process payments from Clients to Professionals for the underlying services they arrange with one another.

2.7 SMS Verification Information

When you request phone verification, we may collect and process the mobile number provided, the date and time of the verification request, verification status, consent information associated with the request, and technical information reasonably necessary to administer, secure, and prevent abuse of the verification process.

At launch, SMS is used for one-time phone-verification codes and not for promotional or marketing text messages unless separate consent is obtained.

2.8 Website, Device, Usage, and Security Information

When you access or use Utasking, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain technical and usage information, including:

  • IP address;
  • browser type and version;
  • device type and operating system;
  • pages viewed and interactions with the Platform;
  • referring websites or traffic sources;
  • approximate geographic information derived from technical data;
  • cookies, pixels, and similar technologies;
  • login attempts, security events, and fraud-prevention information;
  • website analytics and performance information.

2.9 Information Submitted When Deactivating an Account

If you deactivate your account, we may collect the reason selected for deactivation and any explanation or other information you voluntarily provide. Account deactivation does not necessarily result in immediate deletion of all information.

2.10 Information We Do Not Currently Collect as Part of Standard Verification

At launch, Utasking does not routinely require users to submit government-issued identification or undergo a background check as part of the standard registration process. If Utasking later introduces additional identity, credential, licensing, or background-verification features, this Privacy Policy will be updated as appropriate.

2.11 Sources of Personal Information

We collect personal information from several sources, depending on how you use the Platform:

  • directly from you when you register, create a profile or listing, submit a request, send a message, make a report, complete a form, or purchase a Professional Membership;

  • from other Utasking users when they communicate with you, submit a proposal, review, report, or other marketplace content involving you;

  • protect the rights, safety, property, or security of Utasking, users, or others. Email and phone verification do not mean that Utasking has independently verified a user's legal identity, background, qualifications, licensing, or trustworthiness. Approval, publication, or continued availability of User Content does not mean that Utasking has verified or guaranteed the user, content, service, legality, or safety of the underlying activity.

3.11 Other Purposes With Notice or Consent

If Utasking wants to use personal information for a materially different purpose that is not reasonably related to the purposes described above, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent where required by applicable law.

4. How We Share Your Information

Utasking may disclose personal information when reasonably necessary to operate the Platform, provide requested features, process Professional Membership payments, maintain security, support analytics and advertising, comply with law, or protect users and Utasking.

4.1 Other Utasking Users and the Public

Certain information is shared as part of normal marketplace operation. Depending on how you use Utasking, this may include Professional names, profile photographs, biographies, skills, languages, experience, education, general service location, service listings, descriptions, categories, tags, pricing, portfolios, photographs, videos, Client service requests or projects, ratings and reviews, and other User Content intentionally made available through marketplace-facing features.

Private account credentials, Professional billing information, full payment-card information, private support communications, and non-public safety reports are not intended to be displayed publicly through ordinary marketplace features. Information shared through messaging, proposals, or similar communication features may be visible to the users participating in that interaction.

4.2 Hosting and Website Infrastructure

Utasking currently uses Hostinger for website hosting and related infrastructure, including email delivery infrastructure. Hosting providers may process IP addresses, server logs, account and website data, uploaded content, and other technical information necessary to host, secure, maintain, and deliver the Platform.

4.3 Payment and Professional Membership Providers

Professional Membership payments are processed using WooPayments, which works with Stripe for payment processing. These providers may receive billing and contact information, billing address, transaction amount, payment method information, transaction and fraud-prevention information, and other information necessary to authorize, process, or manage a payment. Utasking does not need to receive or store complete payment-card numbers to provide Professional Membership checkout.

Email delivery may involve recipient addresses, sender information, message content, delivery information, and related technical data.

4.6 Forms and Support Tools

Utasking uses WPForms and Fluent Forms to support functions such as Contact Us submissions, safety reports, subscription forms, and other information voluntarily submitted through forms. Depending on the form and configuration, information may be transmitted by email, stored within the Utasking website environment, or otherwise processed to respond to the submission.

4.7 Analytics and Website Measurement Providers

Utasking uses Google Analytics and Jetpack / Automattic Stats to understand Platform usage and performance. These providers may process IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed, interactions, referral sources, approximate location, cookies or similar identifiers, and website usage information, subject to consent controls and applicable law.

4.8 Advertising and Social-Media Providers

Utasking may use advertising and social-media technologies, including Meta/Facebook technologies, to measure advertising performance, understand conversions, and support advertising campaigns. Utasking will provide notices and choices required by applicable law when such technologies are used.

4.9 Security and Fraud-Prevention Providers

Utasking uses Jetpack / Automattic for certain account-protection, login-security, statistics, and securityrelated functions. 4.13 With Your Direction or Consent

We may disclose information when you direct us to do so, request a feature that requires the disclosure, or otherwise provide consent.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Utasking and certain service providers may use cookies, pixels, tags, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the Platform, remember preferences, maintain security, understand usage, measure performance, and support advertising and analytics.

5.1 Essential and Functional Technologies

Some technologies are necessary for core Platform functions such as account sessions, login and authentication, preferences, Professional Membership checkout, security, fraud prevention, and website performance. Because these technologies are necessary to provide core functions, they may not always be optional.

5.2 Analytics Technologies

Utasking currently uses Google Analytics and Jetpack / Automattic Stats to understand website usage, traffic, referral sources, general device/browser information, approximate location, marketplace interactions, and performance. Analytics information is used to improve the Platform and may be processed in aggregated or pseudonymous form depending on the provider and configuration.

5.3 Advertising and Social-Media Technologies

Utasking may use advertising technologies, including Meta/Facebook technologies, to measure campaign performance, understand conversions, and support social-media advertising. Advertising providers may use cookies, pixels, device identifiers, or similar technologies when those technologies are enabled and permitted by applicable law.

5.4 Cookie and Consent Choices

Utasking provides cookie-consent controls that allow users to accept all cookies, deny non-essential cookies, or customize preferences by category. Users may be able to change those preferences later through available cookie settings. Where required by applicable law, Utasking will provide appropriate notice, consent, or opt-out choices for non-essential cookies, advertising technologies, or similar tracking tools.

Depending on your browser, device, and applicable law, you may also be able to control cookies or tracking through browser settings, device settings, third-party advertising-preference tools, or legally recognized privacy preference signals.

5.5 Cookie Policy

Utasking may provide a separate Cookie Policy with additional details about categories of cookies, vendors, purposes, and available choices. If provided, the Cookie Policy should be read together with this Privacy Policy.

6. Data Retention

Utasking retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including operating the Platform, maintaining accounts, providing Professional Membership, supporting safety and security, resolving disputes, complying with legal obligations, and maintaining appropriate business records. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and the reason it is retained.

6.1 Account and Profile Information

We may retain account and profile information while an account remains active. If an account is deactivated, some profile information may be hidden from public or marketplace-facing areas, but account records may be retained where reasonably necessary for restoration, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, enforcement, legal compliance, or other legitimate purposes.

6.2 Professional Profiles, Listings, and Portfolio Content

Professional profile information, service listings, portfolio materials, photographs, videos, and related content may be retained while the Professional account is active or while the content remains relevant to the Platform. When Professional access expires or an account is deactivated, public visibility may be restricted while underlying information remains stored as reasonably necessary.

6.3 Client Requests and Marketplace Activity

Client requests, projects, proposals, marketplace interactions, and related status information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Platform, maintain interaction history, investigate disputes or reports, prevent fraud, and enforce Utasking policies.

6.4 Messages and Communications

Messages and communications sent through Utasking may be retained for a reasonable period to provide messaging functionality, maintain account history, support users, investigate reports or disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, enforce Utasking policies, and comply with legal obligations. Utasking is not required to retain messages indefinitely.

6.5 Reviews and Ratings

Reviews and ratings may remain associated with Professional profiles while relevant to the marketplace. Utasking may retain review records after removal from public display where reasonably necessary for moderation, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, enforcement, or legal compliance.

6.6 Safety Reports and Enforcement Records

Safety reports, complaints, account-review information, moderation records, and enforcement history may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to investigate or document safety concerns, identify repeat violations, protect users and the Platform, defend legal claims, or comply with legal obligations.

6.7 Phone and Verification Information

Phone numbers, verification status, consent records, verification timestamps, and related security information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to administer verification, prevent duplicate or abusive activity, maintain security, document consent, and comply with applicable law.

6.8 Professional Membership, Billing, and Transaction Records

Utasking may retain Professional Membership purchase records, invoices, billing information, paymentstatus information, and related transaction records for accounting, tax, payment disputes and chargebacks, fraud prevention, legal compliance, and legitimate business-record requirements. Payment processors may retain additional transaction information under their own policies and legal obligations.

6.9 Website Analytics, Security Logs, and Technical Information

Technical information such as security logs, IP addresses, login activity, analytics information, device data, and website-usage records may be retained for periods reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, troubleshooting, analytics, performance monitoring, and legal compliance.

6.10 Legal and Compliance Retention

Utasking may retain information longer where reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, maintain required business records, investigate or prevent fraud or security incidents, resolve disputes, establish or defend legal claims, or enforce Utasking Terms and policies.

When information is no longer reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was retained, Utasking may delete, anonymize, or otherwise dispose of it in accordance with applicable law and operational practices.

7. Data Security

Utasking uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Depending on the system and information involved, safeguards may include account authentication and password protections, email and phone verification, login and abuse-prevention controls, rate limiting, access controls, security monitoring and logging, hosting and infrastructure security measures, third-party payment and verification providers, software updates, maintenance, and other reasonable security practices.

Professional Membership payment information is processed through third-party payment providers, including WooPayments and Stripe. Utasking does not need to store complete payment-card numbers to provide Professional Membership checkout.

No website, electronic transmission, storage system, or security measure can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Although Utasking takes reasonable steps designed to protect personal information, we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, cyberattacks, data loss, security incidents, or other security failures will never occur. Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of passwords and verification codes and for taking reasonable precautions to protect their accounts and devices.

If Utasking becomes aware of a security incident involving personal information, we may investigate the incident, take appropriate steps to contain or address it, and provide notices where required by applicable law.

8. Children's Privacy

Utasking is intended only for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly permit individuals under 18 to create accounts or use the Platform.

If Utasking learns that personal information has been collected from a person under 18 in violation of our age requirements, we may take reasonable steps to remove the information and restrict or terminate the associated account, subject to applicable law and information we may need to retain for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or enforcement purposes. If you believe a person under 18 has provided personal information to Utasking, contact support@utasking.com.

9. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live and the laws that apply to you, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. Utasking also provides certain account and privacy choices through the Platform.

9.1 Accessing and Updating Information

You may be able to review and update certain account, profile, contact, and marketplace information directly through your Utasking account. If you are unable to update certain information, you may contact support@utasking.com.

9.2 Correction

You may request correction of personal information that you believe is inaccurate or incomplete. We may need to verify your request before making certain changes, particularly where information relates to account ownership, security, billing, or fraud prevention.

9.3 Access

Where required by applicable law, you may request information about personal information Utasking maintains about you, including relevant categories, sources, purposes, recipients, or specific pieces of information, subject to lawful exceptions.

9.4 Deletion

You may request deletion of certain personal information associated with your account, subject to applicable law and legitimate retention needs, including accounting or tax obligations, security and fraud prevention, disputes, safety reports, enforcement records, and legal claims.

9.5 Account Deactivation

Users may be able to deactivate their Utasking account through account settings. Account deactivation is not the same as a request to delete personal information. Some information may remain stored after deactivation in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

9.6 Email Communications

You may manage certain non-essential email communications through available unsubscribe links, account settings, or by contacting Utasking. We may continue to send communications reasonably necessary to administer or secure your account or Professional Membership.

9.7 SMS Choices

At launch, Utasking uses SMS for one-time phone-verification codes. You may withdraw consent to receive verification texts through methods made available in the verification process or by contacting support@utasking.com. Withdrawing consent may prevent use of features that require phone verification.

9.8 Cookies and Advertising Choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have choices regarding analytics, advertising, and other non-essential tracking technologies through Utasking cookie controls, browser or device settings, third-party preference tools, or legally required opt-out mechanisms.

9.9 Public Profile and Marketplace Information

If you publish information through a Professional profile, service listing, portfolio, Client request, review, or other marketplace-facing feature, that information may be visible to other users or the public. Removing public content does not necessarily mean all copies are immediately removed from systems, backups, security records, or lawful retention.

9.10 Exercising Privacy Rights

You may submit a privacy request by contacting support@utasking.com. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity or authority to make the request. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law, subject to appropriate verification. Utasking will not unlawfully discriminate against a user for exercising rights provided by applicable law.

10. California Privacy Rights

This section provides additional information for California residents.

10.1 California Online Privacy Protection Act

California law requires certain commercial websites and online services that collect personally identifiable information from California residents to conspicuously post a privacy policy describing specified privacy practices. This Privacy Policy describes the categories of personal information Utasking collects, how we use it, categories of third parties and service providers that may receive it, available user choices, how users may request changes to certain information, how material policy changes are communicated, and the effective date of this Policy.

10.2 California Consumer Privacy Act

The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the "CCPA"), provides additional privacy rights when the law applies to a particular business. Utasking will comply with the CCPA to the extent it is applicable to Utasking.

If Utasking is subject to the CCPA, California residents may have rights that include, subject to applicable exceptions, the right to know, access, delete, and correct personal information; the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; the right to limit certain uses and disclosures of sensitive personal information where applicable; and the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising applicable privacy rights.

10.3 Sale, Sharing, and Advertising Technologies

Utasking does not currently sell personal information for monetary consideration. Utasking may use advertising or social-media technologies, including Meta/Facebook technologies, when those technologies are enabled. Certain disclosures for cross-context behavioral advertising may be considered "sharing" or, in some circumstances, a "sale" under California law when the CCPA applies. If Utasking engages in activity that triggers applicable opt-out requirements, Utasking will provide the required notices and methods to opt out.

10.4 Global Privacy Control and Similar Signals

Global Privacy Control ("GPC") is a browser or device-based privacy signal that may communicate a user's preference regarding the sale or sharing of personal information. Where Utasking is legally required to recognize an applicable opt-out preference signal, including GPC, Utasking will process that signal in accordance with applicable law.

10.5 Do Not Track

Some browsers provide a traditional "Do Not Track" ("DNT") setting. Because there is not a single universally adopted technical standard governing how websites should respond to traditional DNT signals, Utasking may not respond to all DNT signals in the same manner. This does not affect any legally required response to an applicable privacy preference signal, such as GPC, where required by law. Third parties, including analytics and advertising providers, may collect information about online activities over time and across different websites or online services when their technologies are used on Utasking.

10.6 California Privacy Requests

California residents may contact Utasking regarding privacy questions or applicable privacy requests at support@utasking.com. We may take reasonable steps to verify the identity or authority of a requester before responding. Where applicable law permits use of an authorized agent, Utasking may require appropriate documentation or verification before processing the request.

11. Where Information Is Processed and International Transfers

Utasking is based in the United States, and personal information collected through the Platform may be stored or processed in the United States. Some service providers may operate infrastructure, personnel, or systems in other countries. As a result, personal information may be processed in jurisdictions outside the state or country where a user lives.

Privacy and data-protection laws in those jurisdictions may differ from laws applicable in a user's location. Where required by applicable law, Utasking will use appropriate safeguards or contractual arrangements for international transfers of personal information.

12. Third-Party Websites and Services

Utasking may contain links to, integrations with, or functionality provided by third-party websites, applications, platforms, or services. These may include payment and billing providers, analytics and advertising services, social-media platforms, embedded or linked video content, websites or portfolios linked by Professionals, and other external services users choose to access in connection with Utasking.

When you interact with a third-party service, that third party may collect or process information under its own privacy policy, terms, and practices. Utasking does not control and is not responsible for the privacy, security, content, or data practices of third-party websites or services operated independently from Utasking. The fact that Utasking links to, integrates with, or makes a third-party service available does not necessarily mean that Utasking endorses, verifies, or guarantees that third party or its practices.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Utasking may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Platform, privacy practices, legal requirements, service providers, or business operations. When we make changes, we will update the Effective Date shown in this Privacy Policy.

If we make material changes, we may provide additional notice where appropriate, such as by posting a notice on the Platform, sending an email or other account communication, displaying a notice when a user next accesses Utasking, or obtaining consent where required by applicable law. Unless otherwise stated, an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective when it is posted, subject to any additional notice or consent requirements imposed by applicable law.

14. Contact Us
