Utasking LLC
Safety Policy
1. Purpose and Scope
Utasking LLC, a California limited liability company (“Utasking,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operates a local, in-person services marketplace that helps Clients discover and connect with independent Professionals.
Because users may communicate, meet in person, enter homes or businesses, and arrange services directly with one another, safety requires reasonable judgment and precautions from everyone who uses the Platform.
This Safety Policy explains:
- the safety tools and account protections Utasking may provide;
- what Utasking does and does not verify;
- practical safety expectations for Clients and Professionals;
- how to recognize and report suspicious, unsafe, or prohibited conduct;
- how Utasking may respond to safety concerns.
This Policy applies to all users of Utasking.
Utasking may provide tools intended to support marketplace safety, including email verification, phone verification by SMS, reporting features, account review, login protections, account restrictions, suspension, and deactivation.
These tools can reduce certain risks, but they cannot eliminate all risks associated with communicating with strangers, arranging local services, entering private property, or participating in in-person interactions.
Users remain responsible for evaluating the circumstances of each interaction and deciding whether they are comfortable proceeding.
Nothing in this Safety Policy should be understood as a guarantee that any user, service, location, transaction, or in-person interaction is safe, lawful, trustworthy, qualified, or suitable.
2. Verification and What It Means
Utasking may require users to complete certain account verification steps, including email verification and phone verification by SMS.
Email verification confirms only that the user has access to the email address used for the account.
Phone verification confirms only that the user has access to the phone number used during the verification process.
These verification steps do not mean that Utasking has independently verified a user’s:
- legal identity;
- government-issued identification;
- criminal history or background;
- professional license, certification, registration, or permit;
- insurance coverage;
- qualifications, experience, or skill level;
- honesty, trustworthiness, safety, or suitability.
A verified email address or phone number should not be treated as an endorsement, background check, identity guarantee, or safety certification by Utasking.
Users should continue to use their own judgment when deciding whether to communicate with, meet, hire, engage, or provide services to another user.
Utasking may review certain requests, projects, tasks, listings, edits, or other content before or after publication. Other content or communications may become available without prior review. Approval, publication, or continued availability does not mean that Utasking has verified, endorsed, guaranteed, or determined the legality, safety, accuracy, qualifications, or suitability of the user, content, or underlying service.
If Utasking later introduces additional verification, screening, credential, licensing, or background-check features, the Platform will describe what those specific features do and what information, if any, has actually been reviewed.
3. General Safety Expectations for All Users
All users are expected to use reasonable judgment and take appropriate precautions when communicating, meeting, arranging services, or entering a home, business, or other service location.
Before meeting or completing a service, users should:
- review the other user’s profile and available service information;
- communicate clearly about the service, location, timing, price, and expectations;
- avoid sharing unnecessary sensitive personal information;
- use Utasking messaging where practical so relevant communications remain available through the Platform;
- be cautious if another user pressures them to act quickly, avoid normal communication, or provide unusual personal or financial information;
- stop the interaction if something feels unsafe, deceptive, unlawful, or inconsistent with what was agreed.
Users should not proceed with an in-person service if they reasonably believe the situation presents a safety risk.
Users must not threaten, harass, stalk, intimidate, discriminate against, exploit, or abuse another person.
Users must not use Utasking to facilitate fraud, scams, illegal activity, prohibited services, violence, exploitation, or other conduct prohibited by the Utasking Terms of Service.
If a situation becomes unsafe, users should prioritize their immediate safety and leave the location or end the interaction where possible.
In an emergency or when there is an immediate threat to life, safety, or property, users should contact local emergency services or law enforcement rather than relying on Utasking.
4. Safety Guidance for Clients
Clients are responsible for deciding whether they are comfortable contacting, meeting, or engaging a Professional.
Before agreeing to an in-person service, Clients should:
- review the Professional’s profile, service listing, and available information;
- communicate clearly about the requested service, price, timing, location, and expectations;
- ask reasonable questions about experience, qualifications, tools, products, or service methods where relevant;
- confirm any license, permit, certification, or insurance that may be legally required for the specific service;
- avoid sending unnecessary sensitive personal, financial, or account information;
- be cautious if a Professional pressures them to act quickly, make unusual payments, communicate in suspicious ways, or agree to terms that were not previously discussed.
If a service will take place at a Client’s home or another private location, the Client should consider reasonable precautions appropriate to the circumstances.
These may include letting another person know when and where the service will occur, keeping valuables and sensitive documents secured, limiting access to areas unrelated to the service, and ending the interaction if the situation becomes uncomfortable or unsafe.
Clients should not rely solely on a Utasking profile, listing, email verification, phone verification, or account status as proof that a Professional is safe, licensed, insured, qualified, or trustworthy.
Clients are responsible for deciding whether a Professional and the proposed service are appropriate for their needs.
If a Client believes a Professional has engaged in unsafe, fraudulent, abusive, unlawful, or prohibited conduct, the Client should report the concern to Utasking through the available reporting tools.
5. Safety Guidance for Professionals
Professionals are responsible for deciding whether they are comfortable communicating with, meeting, or providing services to a Client.
Before accepting or completing an in-person service, Professionals should:
- review the Client’s available account and request information;
- communicate clearly about the requested service, price, timing, location, and expectations;
- confirm that the requested service is lawful and within the Professional’s skills and capabilities;
- ask reasonable questions about the service location, access, conditions, pets, equipment, or other circumstances that may affect safety;
- avoid sharing unnecessary sensitive personal, financial, or account information;
- be cautious if a Client pressures them to act quickly, changes the agreed service unexpectedly, requests prohibited activity, or asks for unusual payment or communication arrangements.
Professionals should not accept or continue a service if they reasonably believe the situation is unsafe, unlawful, deceptive, abusive, or materially different from what was originally agreed.
When entering a Client’s home, business, or other private location, Professionals should consider reasonable precautions appropriate to the circumstances, including letting another person know where they are, keeping personal belongings secure, and maintaining a practical way to leave the location if needed.
Professionals are responsible for using appropriate tools, equipment, products, protective measures, and work practices for the services they perform.
Where a service requires a license, permit, certification, insurance, or other legal authorization, the Professional is responsible for obtaining and maintaining that authorization.
Professionals should not rely solely on a Client’s Utasking account, email verification, phone verification, or account status as proof that the Client is safe, trustworthy, or suitable.
If a Professional believes a Client has engaged in unsafe, fraudulent, abusive, unlawful, or prohibited conduct, the Professional should report the concern to Utasking through the available reporting tools.
6. Scam, Fraud, and Payment Safety
Clients and Professionals should use caution when communicating about payments, deposits, refunds, or other financial arrangements.
At launch, Utasking does not process, hold, escrow, transfer, or guarantee payments between Clients and Professionals for underlying services. Payment arrangements are made directly between the users.
Users should be cautious of conduct that may indicate fraud or a scam, including:
- requests for unusual payment methods;
- pressure to send money before the service details are clear;
- requests for gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, money orders, or other difficult-to-reverse payment methods;
- requests to send or receive money on behalf of another person;
- requests for banking passwords, verification codes, account credentials, or other sensitive financial information;
- overpayment schemes or requests to return part of an unexpected payment;
- payment instructions that suddenly change without a clear explanation;
- claims that Utasking guarantees, holds, insures, or protects a payment when Utasking has not expressly stated that it does;
- requests to participate in suspicious, deceptive, or unlawful financial activity.
Users should independently confirm payment arrangements and should not rely on another user’s statements about Utasking’s payment practices.
Utasking will never require a Client to pay a Professional through an Utasking escrow or wallet system unless Utasking expressly introduces such a feature in the future.
If a user believes they are being targeted by fraud, a scam, impersonation, or suspicious payment activity, they should stop the transaction and report the matter to Utasking.
Where appropriate, users should also contact their bank, payment provider, card issuer, or law enforcement directly.
Utasking may review reports of suspected fraud or payment abuse and may restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts where appropriate.
7. Reporting Safety Concerns and Emergencies
Users should report suspected fraud, scams, harassment, threats, unsafe behavior, prohibited services, impersonation, abuse, or other serious marketplace concerns through the reporting tools made available by Utasking.
When making a report, users should provide accurate information and any relevant details that may help Utasking understand the concern.
Utasking may review reports, account activity, profiles, service listings, messages, and other relevant information when reasonably necessary to evaluate a safety concern, enforce Utasking policies, protect users, or comply with applicable law.
Depending on the circumstances, Utasking may:
- remove or restrict content or service listings;
- limit access to certain Platform features;
- place an account under review;
- suspend, deactivate, or terminate an account;
- require additional information before restoring access;
- take other reasonable safety or enforcement measures.
Submitting a report does not guarantee that Utasking will take a particular action or reach a particular conclusion.
Utasking is not an emergency service and should not be relied on for immediate emergency assistance.
If there is an immediate threat to life, physical safety, or property, users should contact local emergency services or law enforcement directly.
Users should not delay contacting emergency services while waiting for Utasking to review a report.
Utasking may cooperate with law enforcement, government authorities, or other lawful requests where required or permitted by applicable law.
8. Safety Enforcement and Account Restrictions
Utasking may take reasonable action when it believes a user, service listing, communication, transaction, or other activity creates a safety, fraud, legal, security, or marketplace-integrity concern.
Depending on the circumstances, Utasking may:
- remove or restrict profiles, service listings, messages, or other content;
- limit access to certain Platform features;
- place an account under review;
- temporarily restrict or suspend an account;
- deactivate or terminate an account;
- prevent a user from creating or using additional accounts;
- require corrective action, additional information, or further review before restoring access;
- take other measures reasonably intended to protect users, Utasking, or the Platform.
Utasking may act with or without prior notice where reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, security, legal compliance, or protection of the Platform.
Safety enforcement decisions may be based on reports, account activity, available evidence, prior account history, the seriousness of the conduct, applicable law, and other relevant circumstances.
Utasking is not required to disclose confidential security methods, internal enforcement criteria, investigation techniques, information about other users, or other information that Utasking reasonably determines should remain confidential.
A user’s ability to access the Platform, maintain a profile, publish service listings, send messages, or use Professional features may depend on account status and compliance with Utasking policies.
Where account restoration is available, Utasking may require the user to satisfy applicable safety, verification, account, or membership requirements before access is restored.
9. Limits of Utasking’s Safety Role
Utasking may provide safety information, verification tools, reporting features, account controls, and enforcement measures intended to support the safety and integrity of the Platform.
These measures are designed to reduce certain risks, but they cannot eliminate all risks associated with communicating with strangers, arranging local services, entering private property, or participating in in-person interactions.
Utasking does not guarantee:
- the identity, background, honesty, trustworthiness, conduct, or suitability of any user;
- that a user has provided complete or accurate information;
- that a Professional is licensed, insured, certified, experienced, or legally qualified to provide a particular service;
- that any service, location, payment arrangement, or in-person interaction will be safe;
- that fraud, scams, harassment, misconduct, injury, property damage, or other harm will not occur;
- that Utasking will detect, prevent, investigate, or resolve every unsafe or prohibited situation.
Users remain responsible for evaluating whether another user, service, location, or interaction is appropriate for them and for taking reasonable precautions based on the circumstances.
The existence of a Utasking account, profile, service listing, verification indicator, report status, or other Platform feature does not constitute an endorsement, certification, guarantee, or recommendation by Utasking.
Likewise, the fact that Utasking reviews, approves, publishes, or allows particular content to remain available does not constitute a safety certification, legal approval, or guarantee.
Nothing in this Safety Policy limits any responsibility or liability that Utasking cannot lawfully exclude under applicable law.
10. Changes to This Safety Policy and Contact
Utasking may update this Safety Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Platform, marketplace practices, safety tools, legal requirements, or operational needs.
When material changes are made, Utasking may update the effective date of this Policy and provide additional notice where required by applicable law or where Utasking determines that notice is appropriate.
