1. Purpose and Scope

These SMS Terms and Consent (“SMS Terms”) apply to text messages sent by Utasking LLC, a California limited liability company (“Utasking,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), in connection with phone-number verification and account security.

At launch, Utasking uses SMS only to send one-time verification codes (“OTP Codes”) to users who request phone verification.

Utasking does not currently use SMS consent obtained through the verification process to send promotional, advertising, or marketing text messages.

By requesting a verification code and providing the consent presented in the verification interface, you agree to receive a transactional SMS message containing a one-time verification code at the mobile number you provide.

The purpose of the verification message is to confirm that you have access to the mobile number submitted during the verification process and to support account security.

Phone verification does not constitute government-issued identity verification, a background check, licensing verification, credential verification, or a guarantee of a user’s identity, trustworthiness, safety, or suitability.

These SMS Terms supplement the Utasking Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

If Utasking later introduces additional SMS uses, including recurring account notifications or marketing messages, Utasking may update these SMS Terms and obtain any additional consent required by applicable law before using your phone number for those purposes.

2. Consent to Receive Verification Texts

To receive a verification code, you must provide a mobile phone number that you are authorized to use and affirmatively consent to receive the verification text.

By selecting the SMS consent checkbox and requesting a verification code, you authorize Utasking to send a one-time transactional SMS message containing a security code to the mobile number you provided.

Your consent applies only to the verification message requested through the verification flow unless Utasking separately obtains additional consent for another type of SMS communication.

You are responsible for ensuring that the phone number you provide is accurate, current, capable of receiving text messages, and belongs to you or is otherwise a number you are authorized to use.

You should not provide a phone number belonging to another person without that person’s authorization.

Utasking may record information reasonably necessary to document and administer the verification request, including the phone number provided, the date and time of the request, the verification status, and the consent associated with the request.

Consent to receive an OTP verification message is not a condition of purchasing a Professional Membership or paying for any service arranged between users.

If you do not consent to receive the verification message, Utasking may be unable to complete phone verification or provide access to features that require a verified phone number.

3. Message Frequency, Charges, and Delivery

At launch, Utasking sends SMS messages only when a user requests a one-time verification code.

Message frequency therefore depends on the number of verification requests initiated by the user.

Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and service plan.

Utasking does not charge a separate fee for sending an OTP verification message, but your mobile carrier may impose charges.

SMS delivery is subject to your mobile carrier, device, network availability, and other technical factors outside Utasking’s control.

Utasking does not guarantee that a verification message will be delivered immediately or successfully.

If a verification message is delayed or not received, you may request another code where the Platform allows, subject to any security, rate-limit, or abuse-prevention controls.

You are responsible for maintaining access to the mobile number used for verification and for any carrier charges associated with receiving SMS messages.

4. Withdrawal of Consent and Assistance

You may withdraw consent to receive future SMS verification messages from Utasking by using any opt-out method made available in the verification flow or by contacting Utasking at support@utasking.com.

Because Utasking currently uses SMS only for one-time verification codes, withdrawing consent may prevent you from receiving future verification codes at that mobile number.

If phone verification is required for account registration, account security, or access to a particular Platform feature, Utasking may be unable to complete that verification after SMS consent has been withdrawn.

Withdrawing SMS consent does not deactivate your Utasking account, cancel a Professional Membership, or affect agreements you have made directly with other users.

If you receive a Utasking verification code that you did not request, do not use or share the code. You may contact Utasking at support@utasking.com for assistance.

Utasking may maintain records of consent, opt-out requests, and verification activity where reasonably necessary to administer verification, maintain security, prevent abuse, or comply with applicable law.

5. Unauthorized or Incorrect Phone Numbers

You are responsible for providing a mobile phone number that is accurate and that you are authorized to use.

You must not provide a phone number that belongs to another person without that person’s authorization.

If you enter an incorrect phone number, a verification code may be sent to someone other than you. Utasking is not responsible for delays, failed verification, or unintended delivery caused by an incorrect number provided by the user.

If you receive a Utasking verification code that you did not request, you should not use, share, or forward the code.

Receiving an unsolicited verification code may indicate that another person entered your phone number by mistake or attempted to use it without authorization.

You may contact Utasking at support@utasking.com if you believe your phone number has been used improperly or if you continue receiving verification messages you did not request.

Utasking may restrict verification attempts, block abusive requests, or take other reasonable security measures where it detects suspicious, repeated, or unauthorized use of phone numbers or verification codes.

6. Security and Use of Verification Codes

Verification codes are intended only for the user who requested them.

You should not share a Utasking verification code with another person, including anyone claiming to represent Utasking.

Utasking will not ask you to provide a verification code outside the normal verification process for the purpose of gaining access to your account.

You are responsible for keeping verification codes confidential and for using them only to complete the verification request you initiated.

If you believe a verification code has been requested or used without your authorization, you should stop the verification process and contact Utasking at support@utasking.com.

Utasking may limit the number or frequency of verification attempts, temporarily block repeated requests, or apply other security controls intended to prevent abuse, fraud, automated attacks, or unauthorized account access.

A successful verification confirms only that the verification code sent to the submitted mobile number was correctly entered. It does not independently confirm the legal identity of the person using the number.

7. Privacy and Phone Number Data

Utasking collects and uses phone numbers and related verification information as necessary to provide SMS-based phone verification and support account security.

Verification-related information may include the mobile number provided, verification request details, verification status, timestamps, and other technical or security information associated with the verification process.

Utasking may use third-party service providers to deliver verification messages and process verification-related data on Utasking’s behalf.

Phone numbers and verification-related information are handled in accordance with the Utasking Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Utasking does not use phone-number consent obtained through the OTP verification process for marketing or promotional text messages unless Utasking separately obtains any additional consent required by applicable law.

Users should review the Utasking Privacy Policy for more information about how personal information is collected, used, disclosed, retained, and protected.

8. Changes to These SMS Terms and Contact

Utasking may update these SMS Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the verification process, messaging practices, service providers, legal requirements, or Platform operations.

If Utasking materially changes how SMS messages are used, including introducing recurring account messages, promotional messages, or marketing texts, Utasking will update these SMS Terms and obtain any additional consent required by applicable law before using a phone number for those purposes.

The current version of these SMS Terms will state its effective date.
